Getting Started
- What does BillBadger do?
- It keeps your bills, accounts, income and upcoming expenses in one organized place, so you can see what is due and what is coming next. Everything it shows is information you entered yourself.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the app and start adding entries.
- Where is my information stored?
- On your own device. BillBadger does not sync your data to a cloud service or send it to us.
- What is the fastest way to set up?
- Add the accounts you pay from first, then add your recurring bills against those accounts. Income and categories can be filled in afterwards.
Bills
- How do I add a bill?
- Open the Bills section and add a new entry with its name, amount and due date. Recurring bills can be set to repeat so you do not have to re-enter them.
- Can I mark a bill as handled?
- Yes. Marking a bill updates its status in your list so it stops showing as outstanding. BillBadger records what you tell it — it does not make the payment.
- A bill amount changes every month. What should I enter?
- Enter your best estimate and update it when the real amount arrives. The upcoming view uses whatever figure is currently saved.
- How do I remove a bill?
- Delete it from the bill's own screen. Deleting removes it from your device.
Accounts
- What is an account in BillBadger?
- A label for wherever a bill gets paid from — for example a checking account or a particular card. It is a name you choose, not a connection to a bank.
- Can BillBadger link to my bank?
- No. BillBadger never asks for bank credentials and does not connect to financial institutions. Accounts are labels you create.
- Can I assign several bills to one account?
- Yes. Assigning bills to accounts is what makes the per-account view useful.
Income
- Why add income?
- Recording expected income gives your upcoming bills context, so the cash flow view can show how the two line up.
- My pay is irregular. Can I still use it?
- Yes. Add entries as they are known, or record an estimate and adjust it later.
- Does BillBadger see my paycheck?
- No. Income entries are figures you type in yourself.
Cash Flow
- What does the cash flow view show?
- It compares the income you have recorded against the bills you have recorded across the period ahead, so you can see where things get tight.
- The numbers look wrong.
- Cash flow only reflects what has been entered. Check for bills with an old due date, duplicate entries, or income that has not been added yet.
- Is this financial advice?
- No. BillBadger organizes and displays your own entries. It does not offer financial, tax or investment advice.
Troubleshooting
- A reminder did not appear.
- Check that notifications are allowed for BillBadger in your device settings, and that the reminder is still set on the bill. Focus or Do Not Disturb modes can also hold notifications back.
- I cannot find a bill I added.
- Clear any active filters and search by name. Filters stay applied until you reset them.
- The app is not behaving as expected.
- Close and reopen the app, then make sure you are on the latest version from the store. If it persists, email support with your device model, OS version and what you were doing at the time.
- I got a new phone. Can I move my data across?
- BillBadger stores data on the device, so entries do not transfer on their own. Whether anything carries over depends on your device's own backup or transfer tools.
- I deleted something by mistake.
- Deleted entries are removed from the device and cannot be recovered by us, because we do not hold a copy of your data.
